Gah, we got a bit of snow a few days before Crimbo, but none since then, whereas everywhere else in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK seems to have been snowed under. The drawbacks of living in the city centre not that far from the sea :(
Other than that, things have been great. Barry's off for another week, and I'll take the same off. I have a few potential contracts coming up, but hopefully they'll wait for a week. Or longer so I can spend more time working on a line/colouring style for my illustrations (ah, trial and error when it comes to researching how you want your art to look), and two site designs for friends (one for a rock band, the other for a freelance photographer).
Crimbo dinner went really, really easily this year. It must have just been good planning as, despite cooking all the normals, as well as two types of stuffing (one with sausage meat, the other with chestnuts), it was no stress. I even made custard from scratch (well, Creme Patissiere, as I like good thick/set custard) and it was absolutely gorgeous. Still have to eat the eggnog ice cream I made. We have loads of turkey and stuffing left, so need to make a loaf of bread so we can have some yummy sandwiches.
And the Crimbo bounty was:
-
the 27in iMac (from both of us, to both of us. Got it back in November as I was going self-employed, but 'tis the big Crimbo thing. We now have three computers between two of us :D)
- deLongi coffee maker (for me from Barry, as I miss good coffee from work, and although I have a cafetiere, they just aren't as good and take so long to make coffee with and clean that I've been going without.)
- two complete anime series; FLCL and Kino's Journey (again, from Barry)
- several of my favourite movies on DVD that have never gotten around to getting; Bettlejuice, Dark City and The Frighteners (from Barry)
- Civilization Revolution on the DS (from Barry).
- Sims 3 for the Mac (from Leanne, one of my "sis-in-law"s). Yeap, I adore sandboxy games.
- New kettle, new frying pans (reduced from £70 to £25! £70 for two frying pans?!?!), and new towels, as well as some miscellaneous stuff (predictably those came from my parents, hehe)
- 30 Rock: Season 2 (from one of my brothers)
- and a total of £340 from other people. Part of that will go on a new set of good shelves, as we've ran out of book/DVD/game storage, and the rest maybe on a holiday. Not sure where. Maybe a nice long weekend in Prague.
- and six seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm (one of my presents to Barry, but something I'll be enjoying too)
Think that's about it. Sadly am kind of looking forward to taking the Crimbo trees down due to the Toby-kitty constantly causing headaches by playing with them >_<
Righto, have some anime downloaded, so better go get it watched.
